SATC will forever be my favorite show but this remake is a serious disappointment to the creative and humorous show it once was. Samantha was the best character so unfortunately it was doomed from the start. Miranda became needy, desperate and submissive. She used to be a strong woman who was sarcastic, bold and unapologetic. Suddenly becoming a lesbian in your fifties is an odd route but completely changing her personality caused a disconnect for viewers. Charlotte is pretty forgettable, she was only somewhat interesting when Samantha was around to poke fun at her attempted perfectionism. Carrie is about the same, self absorbed with no ability to learn from her mistakes. The new female characters cannot replace Samantha and just solidifies the giant hole that became of her absence. The zest of SATC arose from its ability to reflect on all the quirks and stereotypes of women and relationships…that is gone because our society now fears offending a squirrel. We used to be able to laugh at mistakes the characters made and the differences among them that sometimes led to conflict but now it’s seemingly perfect which is incredibly boring. It was a classic and will remain a hit of the past. It’s just sad that societal restrictions have halted creativity and humor.
