I have read all the books and seen every movie and I actually thoroughly enjoy this show. It fills in a lot of questions about history and side stories and we get to see some of Tolkiens scenes from other books finally brought to screen like the barrow wights and more pf Tom Bombadil. If you’ve read the books it will be a real treat.
