I understand why people are so adamant about not believing this information; it is scary, and denial is much, much easier than acceptance. Denial, however, is a proven predecessor of catastrophe, and if we don't take steps toward acceptance and thus toward remediation, we will pay the ultimate price. Wow... that is a LOT of information / threat / decision-making coming at one person non-stop, and the speed and accuracy with which the Commander responds is nothing less than awe-inspiring. Many would freeze under that kind of pressure... What a hero! Yet another Tom Hanks masterpiece.
