Having read the Lord of the Rings trilogy a couple of times when I was younger, I found the films a comforting reimagining of my own vision of this amazingly developed world. The cinematography and special affects of these films were also a pleasing match for my own imaginings. However, these films had more to them than that. Well developed characters who put flesh on the character details in the books. There was humour, pathos, drama and suspense in these films. Whilst I feel that the couple of episodes of this new series have been fabulous to look at, as yet I don’t feel the same kind of believability is there compared to the previous films. I would say however that I am enjoying the episodes all in all and hope that as the series progresses I will connect with the characters more.
