This is a sincere, and challenging, review to all those who missed the essence of this movie. The movie is not meant to be taken literally, and it goes to great, yet subtle, lengths to convey that message. V is not a person. Nor is Evie, or any other character in the film. The very last scene in the film makes this abundantly clear. For those who question V’s morals, and are left feeling that V is a “bad guy”… without giving too much away for those who haven’t seen this film yet, all I’ll say is that… often times the Truth (capital T intended) hurts. This film is an allegory, and everything in it is an effort to personify deep archetypal and thematic aspects that make up the essence of a society that reaches peak totalitarianism, and then regains its identity as a society that remembers freedom is non-negotiable; give me liberty or give me death… and the all-intimidating “order-followers” simply dissolve away once the might of unified morality shows itself. Again… pay very close attention to the last scene; it tells you that the movie you just watched start to finish, is now something to be replayed in your mind in an entirely different context. To those who missed it, I implore you to watch it again.
