------------------------Minor spoilers---------------
I cannot stress enough how much I really loved this game. If you were a fan of The last of us because it portrayed a dim dark version of humanity on it's back fighting for primarily themselves then you are going to love the overall tone of the game.
It's hard to accurately depict all the things I enjoyed without reveling too many spoilers, but it comes down to character growth. You play as Abbi and Elli, both characters I found deeply engaged with. Elli for the simple fact that she is a badass that was raised by the most effective killing machine the world has seen, meanwhile Abby starts off as seeming to almost mimic that yet her story is more akin to rekindling her lost hope for humanity.
All of this leads up to an explosive boiling point one of which you can't really see coming no matter how hard you try to guess. You constantly expect one thing after another because of the stories laid out infront of you. You understand both characters positions, point of views, family, friends and their lives. You feel their pain and empathize with each side.
The ending is almost as disturbing as it is fitting. When a world filled with hateful/selfish killings one after another with no true hope or end in sight the final scene delivers on the character's developments and wraps up each story while leaving possibilities for a new story.
Don't buy and go into this game expecting a Disney movie. If you are not prepared to put yourself into another persons shoes, this game may not be for you.
