I've been a strong player of the MH franchise since the psp, DS to switch release and know the ups and downs of each generation and what made it a complete experience.
I can't really give MHR the best experience compared to the rest due to its non complete and lackluster ending. While it offers new monsters and use of the jumping and attack methods, it becomes very repetitive and not well integrated into the open world environment.
I would buy it on sale but for its price you should wait. Its defiantly rushed as the traditional introduction scene is no where, low to high tier armor is identical with no G rank or new elder dragons. Instead they offer existing ones from older games as a monthly or paid expansion. If you compared this to MH generations for the DS, everything was avaliable for download for free without waits or delays.
The major problem is the lack of immersive online experience as the first paid online service. It doesn't offer smart or useful communication, no online voice chats and is comparable to the 3DS version.
