Right, okay. The music was pretty cheesy, I would say. The comedy was also forced in many scenes where I feel they were not needed and just ruined the scene. I could say nearly half or more of the movie had forced jokes. Sure, I laughed at some of them, but a lot of them just made me feel disappointed.
Now, I'm aware that it, for the most part was targeted towards younger audience. But compared to the first movie which had a good build-up, this one kind of turned out bland. BBB didn't train for very long, and his skills were sharpened like he trained for months. I feel like the focus of the movie was leaning towards making BBB powerful.
I'm not saying the entire thing was bland, there were good moments like when BBB discovered the origin of his elemental powers, or when he lost his powers to the greedy Retak'ka. The atmosphere was set and gave a sense of loss.
The music, was, more I'd say "let's make this cool, montage please." It didn't feel real in the least. The training felt like it was there for more comedy and montage than to train him, the comedy on a lot of the scenes here were to me, nonsense. Like when he took a horse stance and an ice bow appeared. How did Hang Kasa know about that? Didn't he wield the crystal element?
My expectations may just have been too high, but even the final battle felt bland. What makes me feel this way is that Retak'ka beat BBB to a pulp in the beginning of the movie and a few days later he's suddenly slamming Retak'ka through walls. How'd he do that?
I feel like the focus and highlight was only on BBB's ability to fuse his elements. I don't know, it felt forced, the movie was bland, and the build-up wasn't very good.
Of course this is only just what I think of it. The animation, the music, the voice acting and overall visuals were great. As for the rest, I dunno.
Yaya, Fang and Ying were mostly portrayed as useless and I feel as if getting them captured was to focus more on BBB, but, I feel like they were forgotten. I've been watching for some time, surely BBB had a strong urge to help his friends when they were captured or at the brink of death when they were about to be exploded. But I don't think it was portrayed very well, it just came off "But I gotta help cause that's kind", I feel as if it had no impact that they were gone twice and captured twice. Fang also just woke up "Ack I'm gonna vomit!" When he was captured, with a silly face to please younger audience. That, to me felt forced.
The chicken transformation for Papa Zola too. Fart eggs. And then Pipi Zola who, I think was introduced well until it got milked. Anytime someone asks who she is the camera turns everywhere for her to just introduce herself.
I think the characters had barely any change to them, there was so much potential in this, BBB rediscovering himself as a hero and wielder of 7 elemental powers. It's a good idea, but was portrayed badly.
That's all I can say. Now, I'd like to just say this is how I feel about the movie, not how it is but how I see it in my eyes.
