I just finished the book a while ago and I had high hopes on it since i’ve seen really good reviews about it. I often found myself reading, pausing, and rolling my eyes at some of the dialogue because it was so...cringe? Rufus’ dialogue wasn’t really accurate to teens’ but maybe it’s due to the fact the book was published in 2017. The characters are a bit one-sided in my opinion as well, like Rufus would just constantly refer to the loss of his family and Mateo to his insecure persona. I was really excited for this book, I shouldn’t have had such high expectations. I did love the idea of DeathCast though! Really interesting sci-fi sort of twist, I even had dreams about it.
