Reggae Beast (Mahir Rahman)

Whilst imperfect - or rather not without its faults, the film was plenty enjoyable. Visually, it was as Wes Anderson as ever. The score was lovely - maybe the most pleasant Wes Anderson film score since Fantastic Mr. Fox. The casting was maybe a little bloated because there were so many of people's favourites it was probably a disappointment to watch some of them get just 1 line of dialogue. All of the "sections" of magazine were enjoyable, from worst to best it would probably be Sazerac, Krementz, Wright, Berensen. But they were actually all great. To be honest I thought it would have been held in higher regard. Personally, though I haven't seen all of Anderson's filmography, this was my favourite and I am already feeling like I want to watch it again! Definitely recommended.

Whilst not an awful film, can't condone the message of the film as it just seems to be bitter and in poor taste. The performances are fine, Billie Lourd was the most outstanding and whilst there was the occasional reason to laugh, ultimately the film was somehow typical yet uniquely missed the mark throughout the film. Is the film enjoyable? The jokes are hitting at like a 50% success rate, which is decent enough but those jokes aren't all the film is. Just those jokes - solid 3.5/5. The film as a whole including everything not funny about the film - 0.5/5. Averages out to 2/5.

Kinda stupid. Like if during a short film you go to check how long there is left to go, that kinda shows what form of hell you're going through. Couldn't tell if it was trying to be funny, but it wasn't. Couldn't tell if it was trying to be thrilling, but it wasn't. Couldn't tell if it was trying to be a murder mystery, but ended up wishing I was dead. Couldn't tell if it was trying to be satirical, but it seemed pointless anyway. Couldn't tell it it was trying to be entertaining, but it wasn't. If people did enjoy it - which they clearly did - then good on them for finding joy where I've failed to do so. But there is no way I would recommend this waste of seventeen minutes (for even more context, it's the covid pandemic, I'm in lockdown, I can't sleep and I chose to watch this and I still feel deprived of valuable time). You may be wondering why 2 stars rather than 1, to which I can only say I like Capuchin monkeys (and this one is in a suit. C'mon) and I've seen worse. Enjoy

The movie wasn't easily the worst of the three Spongebob movies that have come out but that was only because the second one was quite bad. It was just so poorly written. Several of the plotlines - some of which were pointless - and chronology just didn't make sense, and not even to it's credit like in episodes of Spongebob where it's deliberately non-sensical or trippy. Steve Hillenburg initially didn't want this movie made and you can see why. And the animation style, though not as grating as it initially appeared, was still not as good as the 2D animation style from the show. And some of the voice-acting and some of the (spoilers) acting was just dead. In terms of the positives, the movie did make me laugh if only once. A lot of the music was pretty good as were the cameos and in reality those are the elements that make it a 3-star movie. And they know it too, they were so dependent on those to make the movie remotely entertaining. So all in all: bad but watchable. Enjoy.
