Was The Wait Worth it?
American songwriter, Symere Woods, known as “Lil Uzi” is an artist who has been producing music for several years. Most of his albums such as “Luv is Rage” and “Eternal Atake” received numerous awards which gave him fame. His newest album, Pink Tape definitely lives up to the standards. I would give this album 5 stars. Pink Tape is a 26-track album, lasting about 90 minutes. This album was first introduced in December 2020, by Symere himself. It was created as an experimental album as he explores a mix of Rap/Rock. This was his first time doing this, yet he still managed to create a unique masterpiece.
The theming of the album was excellent. It is about Woods’s success as it starts off with a song titled “Flooded The Face” which recaps how much he has grown over the past few years. Then the next few songs talk about his journey. About halfway through there’s another song called “I gotta” which is Symere going back to talking about his success, and then after this, the next few songs are essentially “Hype” songs. He brings other big names to his songs as features such as Travis Scott. Bringing other popular artists was an excellent idea because not only does it make the song better, but the artists he picked make similar music.
As I mentioned before, I really like the theme of this album. The name “Pink Tape” really resembles the overall tune of the album. Also, the album’s cover is Symere standing in front of an American flag, except in pink colors. The songs at the end of the album also stick up to the theme. One of the most notable songs is “The End” which features a Japanese band named, “Baby Metal”. Uzi chose this band because their style of music heavily revolves around Rock. Symere combines his rap music style with Baby Metal’s rock style to create the last song of the album.
This album really lives up to the hype for me. I waited 3 years for this album and it is definitely one of his best projects released. It makes me reminisce of the old days around 2016-2017 when I used to listen to Symere’s old album, “Luv is Rage”. The songs and theming of these albums correlate together and they both have wonderful songs which I will always listen to. Pink Tape has to be his top 3 albums thanks to the theming, amazing songs, and features of other artists.
