This show is fookin' brilliant. Cillian Murphy is RIDICULOUSLY good in his role and ADDICTING to watch... brooding, calculating, sarcastic, composed, despondent, charming... yet his pre-WWI liveliness and love for his close family shines at the right times. To be clear, the rest of the cast is amazing as well, and the plot is thrilling, twisty, and ingenious. Also, throw in the fact that it's set in the 1920s, so beautiful aesthetics and gangster-y vibe. Lovely set and costumes. This is the type of show you can't afford multitasking during, and the plot is fast enough that you want to binge it but at the same time you need to sit and process the emotional rollercoaster. This is also the type of show where you want to wipe your memory of watching it so you can relive watching it for the first time again and again.
Do NOT give up on this show. I sort of mindlessly watched the first episode and didn't love it the first time around bc I wasn't used to the period drama vibe in general... but I went back to the show a couple months later and can't stop (re)watching it.
