I remember reading the original article and thinking whoever gets the rights to this story it’s gonna be sooo fun to watch. I adore film and documentaries and this is my first Google film review but I had to say something. This was clunky.. parts are belabored the nuances of the lawyers and the journalist .. and the journalists husband.. and this pregnancy of hers.. like is she ok... she’s laying down now.. what’s happening...is this an 8 part tale of the birthing journey of a journalist or ....an incredible story of this person that did what they did and let’s get back to that.. We are watching this to see how the heck this girl did it. That’s the meat of this story they got lost in the weeds. The accent becomes grinding on the ears. I love Shonda and support her (mid thirties Black woman here) but this isn’t right and I don’t know what happened. Great music though. I’m halfway through but very very very surprised there has not been a commentary on how her race lent itself to this but for Shonda not to bring that into the active dialogue is super odd. A no credentials having not even that pretty white 25 year old is even given a meeting at a fund for 40 million and you mean to tell me like we are only addressing the gender struggle 4 episodes in and I’m not even super woke like .. what are we doing here. This an incredible story (like the fake Rothschild husband one) that comes around maybe every 10 yrs. maybe it was fumbled because production got impacted by covid. But at episode 4 the best part of this has been the 2 trailers and the catchy music I heard. And I know this story already so let’s make it freaking fab (because what this girl did was beyond impressive) ... but this flopped.. also curious does Anna get any rights to the story or it all goes to repayment? In closing this was not horrendous ... if you are home sick it’s prob perfect . Too many episodes it’s 4 max.. honestly I would’ve Prefered a documentary ... but this wasn’t it 🤷‍♀️ Fumbles happen and I’m finishing it just to see how hard the car crashes 🤷‍♀️. I’m Disappointed Shonda you are amazing but don’t attach to subpar products even though you are a huge organization now.
