I'm not sure how I personally feel about this film. I really wanted to like it but... Storyline and acting wise it started off quite well with a great sci fi/horror feel . It does have a decent cast with great acting ability and the cramped claustrophobic atmosphere of the space craft was conveyed very well through direction, camera angles and sound. But it started to get a little too syrupy for my pallet soon after Sandler befriended the other entity in the craft. No spoilers here but the chocolate jar symbolism made my teeth itch. First 20 minutes were very promising but the dramatic aspects of the movie soon turned into 1 hour of complete schmaltz and the score although moody in places just became completely annoying. Great start but ultimately it became a sugary mess.

Having really enjoyed the first installment I was eagerly waiting for the 2nd one. I watched it. Its good. But not as good as the first film. Its a more full on brasher less subtle sequel which kind of loses the atmosphere and brilliant subtlety of the earlier one. Having said that it's still a pretty good film with top notch acting and visuals apart from the opening sequence where we get to know where the creatures originated from. A little disappointing that the actor/writer and director went down a tried and tested route. However, still a good film and well worth a watch.
