The problem with this anime is the lead character is someone that you can't relate to. I ended up hating the lead character due to his impulsive and selfish attitude. The story concept is unique and great. The lead character is just to much of a piece of trash. Death humbles everyone in the end.

Honestly the show is good. The early development of the story is slow but developes the main story well as well as character development. The negative reviews seem to stem from the video game, it seems the original intent was you are the master chief vs seeing the story from a third party. Also there are deviations from the games story. Honestly I perfer a new story and deviations. If it were the same then what would be the point of watching when you can just play the game.
