An historically true character ( Louis XIV of France) cannot be realistically acted by Leonardo DiCaprio with a modern American accent.

Ghastly piece of cheap soap opera. About 10% history, 90% screaming, gratuitous swearing and sex scenes. I was hoping for some history. This is so bad that I would not admit to having watched it (to get my money's worth). Unbelievable that someone could find the finances to bring together the large cast, costumes, props and scenery for such obvious trash. I am dumping it rather than passing it onto a friend.

Much drama and emoting but lacking substance. Too many fictional characters and only vaguely follows real historical events. Read Lady Antonia Fraser's "Love and Louis XIV" to get the real story without the cheap drama.
