This movie has amazing effects, actors, and costume designs. However I was mostly excited about the lore of it- the lore took up pretty much the whole movie and it happened to be a depressing sort. I knew it would be but to the extent where both were entirely wrong and apparently will never stop their cycle. Even so (spoilers) Peter was left in the end from all his lost boy friends. And the plot was so consumed by this lore that the only thing I took from this was that Peter need a therapist right now. The ending was disappointing, Captain Hook had no happy thoughts so he was just a sad person his entire life. Another point that made this movie terrible was the lack of light or playful themes within the lost boys. They had a good focus on the pirates and their miserable life, but when it came to the lost boys, there was no signs of happiness in their home. The most I saw was that they had a rope they would climb down. Their house was dark and gloomy and we saw Peter throw a fit and go up to James’s room which was depressing. Just no happiness in this movie. ‘Hook’ was a good example of the life of the lost boys. I went in with no expectations and came out disappointed.
