Not what I expected. Some brilliant cinematography and stunning vignettes and set pieces but ultimately underwhelming. Definitely some uncomfortable viewing and and an at times powerful performance by Dunst but the cliche character of Jessie and the Hollywood ending undermined the the experience for me. Annoyingly unauthentic details like the journos heading into a war zone with no medical kit...and then allowing one of their colleagues to bleed out or suddenly eschewing their hard hats and bullet proof vests as they join the frontline fighting in the films finale seemed careless. I get that Garland deliberately left out a lot if background context as to why Americans have turned against each other, to allow us to fill in the gaps but at times this felt frustrating...maybe that was the point. Wanted to like it but left disappointed.
