I liked first 3 seasons of true detective, and I like Jodie Foster, so I was looking forward to this Night Country.
I'm only half an episode in and I'm having trouble getting into it. It sounds like a sophomore in high school wrote the lines for all of the male characters and the people who could actually write spent all their time on Jodie Foster's lines.
I'm getting tired of good shows going south because of these woke characterizations of anyone who doesn't fit with certain demographics bring portrayed as these cartoonish, predictably helpless and absurd caricatures of themselves that I lose that feeling of being drawn in and quit taking it seriously.
If you want to send a message, at least make your characters believable. Have grown-ups write grown-up dialogue.
