Nathia Grey

Pretty good movie, certainly not a bad way to burn a couple hours. Acting was on point, effects were pretty impressive. Drags a bit here and there, particularly around the middle, and I didn't quite understand why so much of it concentrated on the bad guy while the other main characters remained a virtual mystery. Also didn't see how the finale was caught on camera, considering they went with the whole "found footage" idea, but I'm probably splitting hairs. If you stick your brain in park and just let it play out, it's actually pretty entertaining.

Make room for disappointments! I'd passed this movie up so many times thinking "but it's called The Disappointments Room, how good could it be?!" And finally, curiosity got the best of me and coerced me to watch the trailer. (Yes, there was wine involved.) Didn't look like it was breaking any barriers, but didn't look bad either. (Okay, a lot of wine.) For lack of inhibitions and anything better to watch, I gave in and what I found appalled me. Bad, bad, bad movie from start to finish. Forced, borderline embarrassing acting, thrown-together storyline, unlikeable characters, and an ending that provokes only one word to come to mind ... "Huh?" Didn't realize Beckinsale had it in her to be that bad of an actress, and had no clue what the writer or director were thinking by the end. It truly seemed to be cut and pasted together with entire chunks of story missing! Hats off to whoever edited the trailer though. They actually made it look watchable--a real feat given what they had to work with.

Good concept, stupid execution. Sacrificed its thrill factor to preach endlessly about the dangers of overdevelopment and destroying the environment. And the ending was beyond silly. Seemed like they lost their way about halfway through and just decided to completely rip off Annihilation. Which I don't understand. Annihilation was terrible, and this was in no way an improvement.

What a pile of trash. Plot had more holes than swiss cheese. BAD acting, no characterization, no foreshadowing, and no horror whatsoever. It's as if someone did a bunch of drugs and said "hey, I'll write a screenplay." And when the only slightly more sober friend said "cool, what's it about?", they waved them off. "Whatever, dude ... We'll just throw in some cgi; it'll be fine."

Meh. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. Just felt like the engine never really revved up on this one. It stayed on idle ... For two and a half hours. Though it was well acted, beautifully filmed, and brilliantly directed - giving it more than a fair headstart for a movie nowadays - I'm afraid it also included a bunch of unlikeable characters using dialogue no one has ever used, and an ending that read more like a punchline than anything else. Was kinda disappointed, but not enough to stop watching, so ... Whatever that means.

Solid work on all accounts. Good acting, strong storyline, great effects, dramatic setting, excellent monster! I was fully invested within a minute and a half--very rare nowadays. A little slow at times, with a small snippet of gratuitous nudity, but ultimately, this movie was everything I was hoping it would be.

Ya know those movies that are just slow and boring and altogether nothing special until the ending swoops in and redeems the whole thing? The Night House is the exact opposite. For the first hour or so, I was enthralled with the guessing game, titillated by the effects I'd never seen in any other horror movie and sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what might happen next. Then the ending came and made the entire story a complete waste of time. Between the plot holes, the supernatural overload, and the barely-there resolution, I watched the end credits roll with a curl in my lip and a "is that really it?" look on my face. Seems the writers decided to sacrifice entertainment in favor of a HFN ending and hammering you to death with a life lesson. And though the message was fine and made sense, the story took a train to Stupid Town to make it happen. Good idea, horrible execution.

Holy racist/hateful psycho-babble! The only thing scary about this so-called "horror movie" experience was the amount of anti-white and anti-cop rhetoric being spewed from my speakers this evening. I've read a fair amount of the other one-star reviews, and they give plenty of the same details I would give, so I'll just save myself the trouble and keep it short ... Last Jordan Peele movie I'll ever watch.

Great idea. Send jlo and ne-yo home, and it might actually be worth watching.

Nothing to see here. Boring through and through. No plot, just social commentary. Feel like I just watched 100 minutes of bitter rantings from super rich, over-privileged movie moguls who like to blame and harass the general public for things they themselves are guilty of. Guess they're hoping if they shout loud enough, no one will notice their hypocrisy.
