Isabel Wilkerson is able in Caste to in some small way have me understand what it must be like for a Black person wake up every morning and go out into a society dominated by White people. She also makes a very powerful case that the treatment of Blacks is in many ways tantamount to the caste system of India. I found the book to be very powerful and would urge people "not of color" to read it. It may open up avenues for them to understand the injustices, both intended and unintended that "people of color" have had to cope with in our society which we feel is a true democracy.
