Ellen Hernandez

The writing is very strong, finely crafted. The characters are deeply, richly presented. Their actions give the reader cause for reflection on the sometimes flawed ways we try to do good. I found this novel a fascinating character study but with only a vaguely fleshed out plot that is secondary to the characters. As such, it was something of a letdown in that I found it difficult to connect to the loose narrative.
