Fantastic ! Intelligent , expressive ,sensitive acting (Burt Lancaster is one of the all time greats ! ) the handling of the steam train is totally conviinciing . Wonderful direction of bombing of of rail yards etc . Master ful ! And the subtle development of a love affair in unusual circumstances ! So much tension and posing as many moral questions as it answers . Brilliant !
