Cartoony...... well shot and pretty to look at but the characters are ridiculous despite being otherwise great actors elsewhere

The subject matter is excellent but the translation to this series has not worked in my opinion. Why is everything shot so dark? Typically when the 50's or 60's is represented (Catch Me If You Can for instance) you have colorful, saturated shots. The cinematography is lacking here badly. The actors are ok but the scripts they are using is like a soap opera. The film had its own issues trying to squeeze everything into a 3 hour (and change) feature film but this long form mini series has all the time in the world to tell the stories like they should have been told.
