I hate to say it, but this is nowhere near as good as the other books I've read by David Hewson. I have read the whole Nic Costa series, ten books in all, and found them absolutely brilliant, couldn't put them down, binge-read the whole series! Then, sad that it was over, I tried this book as it's a spin-off with Teresa Lupo the pathologist, one of the main, brilliant characters of the Costa series. But unfortunately it didn't meet the standard of the other books.
If this is the only book that you've read by this author, and if you didn't enjoy it, please try some of his others as as they are so good. The Costa series is amazing, but if it's a book set in Venice that you fancy then you should try The Medici Murders; I highly recommend it.
