I haven't read much of Stephen King since I was a teenager but recently started picking up some of his newer books when it became clear he had shifted a little outside of his typical genre. I'm finding this shift a positive one and I enjoyed this book immensely. Unlike others I enjoyed the anti Trump, covid references etc... so what if they date the book? Many books are dated to some extent and I like that he reflects the times we're going through. The characters in this story are interesting and whilst some of the relationships might be a little far-fetched, it's fiction at the end of the day! I thought the story developed well, yes it ebbs and flows but all books do, it's part of the journey, it kept me engaged and I found the ending quite emotional. I also liked the nod to the Shining. This is a totally different book to that one, but for me was just as enjoyable. I have grown up with Stephen King and the fact that he is writing books now which I can enjoy as an adult, when equally I used to enjoy the books he wrote at the time when I was a teenager, reflects that he is indeed the greatest storyteller of (my) time.
