I am SOOO GLAD I didnt pay for this movie. First.. I get the whole "wanting to keep our current politics out" idea. In fact, I was happy when I read that. However, they tell you NOTHING about why the succession happened, or why Florida had their "insurrection", or even anything about the President. We have no clue as to what actually brought about, is happening, or what might happen after the end of the movie. I am really getting tired of people saying things are "though provoking", or "brilliant" because they just leave holes and let them audience fill them in. That is LAZY, plain and simple. What is worse, is the fact they have convinced some to believe that makes a movie good..... It doesnt. It is either that or they were just cowards. If you are going to be gutless about a movie titled "Civil War", then just dont make it.
Lets not even address the fact that the President would NOT be in the White House at the end. There are bunkers galore that he could have easily gotten to LONG before the forces reached DC. If you subscribe to more in depth conspiracy theories you would believe there is a monorail underground to whisk him out of there. A simple car or helicopter would have done the job once he heard they were air lifting hummers into DC. How stupid do they really expect the US population watching this to be? He would never be there... period.
Now the story ends up being about Journalists... using old film and then scanning it in the field in to a smart phone instead of just using the smart phone. Or that "wifi" is still up and running or that most places would even have electricity, etc. If you can get over those inaccurate situations, then you will find a boring story about how journalists just "take the pictures" so others can discuss it. HAHAHAHAHA Wanting people to believe media is unbiased. Laughable. And the "twist" ending that they laid right in front of you about the main character.... Not all that shocking.
