I found this program a very hard watch. The dramatisation was very well done and the actors did a superb job of portraying the characters, but... there was so much incompetence by the police, it's a wonder Sutcliffe was ever caught at all.
However, that's not all that appalled me, having been a teenager in that era, I was absolutely disgusted at the attitudes of the misogynistic policemen. The condescending way in which they spoke to the policewomen was an outrage. They were referring to them as 'lassie' and treating them as secretaries. As for the female victims, well, they were just lowlifes, of little consequence and asked for everything they got.
I'd actually forgotten how bad it was for women back then and people wonder why we fight so hard to keep our rights. They were hard to come by, that's why.
