An ambitious, complex film dealing with the conundrums facing one of the most brilliant artists of the 20th century. Stellar performances from Cooper and Mulligan save what is at times a jarring mess of cinematography and irritating long shots. I wish there had been more emphasis on the music and less about Bernstein's bisexuality. But what music we are allowed to hear is magnificent.
