This movie has good reviews but I simply cannot get how insufferably boring I find it. We spend over an hour waiting for Louis and Marie to consummate their marriage, only for an immediate fade out to childbirth... What was the point of the suspense with no catharsis? It feels as if every development in the plot is somehow an anti-climax. I felt as if I was lazing around Versaille with nothing to do the entire two hours of the film.

An enjoyable watch with compelling world building and characters. Unfortunately, the ending of Season 2 was quite rushed due to the show being cancelled (complications caused by the pandemic). I enjoyed the journey, but be aware that the final episode will disappoint you.
