I was so disappointed in this movie. I feel you really needed to have read the book first to truly understand the depth of the story. Although the topic of abuse is clearly evident, it barely scratches the surface of how the book depicted it. Blake Lively was poorly cast. I feel she was much too old to play the part of Lily and her character was lacking on all accounts, from her clothes to her acting and everything in between. Ryle's brothers death is hardly discussed as the reason why he may have abusive tendencies. And Alyssa's and Marshall's characters seemed like an after thought. I get that most movies are not like the book, but sadly, this one totally missed the mark for me.
