RUSSELL BARK

This series had good premise but unfortunately had too many bad points dragging it down. It's always good to see Toby Jones in his stride but the characterisation was all over the place. I think the producers were trying to tick so many boxes they couldn't decide which genre they were trying to fill. The poor Asian family were reduced to a stereotypical 'Kumars' type debacle while the female asylum seeker failed to gain any kind of sympathy from the audience due to casually ticketing cars she knew belonged to the dogged residents. I'm not sure how she actually got the job as a traffic warden without a background check or appropriate paperwork? I just couldn't figure out if I was watching a serious drama with great plot twists or a dodgy episode of Eastenders. The music was reminiscent of a twee murder-mystery mini series too. Otherwise it was entertaining in a strange way.

With all the rubbish that's been churned out at the moment, this is a marvellously refreshing drama/horror (sometimes funny) series that constantly challenges the viewer to explore the world we live in and the people that dwell in the higher heiracy of society. huge
