I think I enjoyed the second season the best and that was not that good. It took me a moment to get into it on a binge-watching weekend. I liked most of the characters, or wanted to. The I was in for season 2, not so much season three and then fast forwarded most of season 4 since I saw reviews about how good it ended. Honestly, the writing seemed very off between seasons and more teen drama that had holes in the stories. Very jagged and odd. They kept Sam's best therapist in the show unnecessarily and should have let her go. I liked Casey (the actress and character) the best, but the drama with her and Izzie was like UGH, enough. On again, off again, on again! Two girls figuring out their sexuality should have been given less drama. They could have just left the Beth character out of the story line after the break up with Evan and Casey. It was uncomfortable and did not add anything. Could have left Elsa's mom out as well, they had no relationship at all for many years yet Sam knew about her and was concerned. Again, added nothing. Also, she sounded horrible as a mom, you don't just make up and forgive over pie! The really bad part is Jennifer Jason Leigh. She tried to be something, like a cutesy teen instead of aging mother. It was horrible to watch her face no move or move oddly. I am thinking botox. She took so much away from it and since I have not seen anything she is done lately (like 15 years, maybe she was always not good). I just binge watched it for the hell of it and do not recommend this at all. It was like watching a bad after-school special from the 80's.
