This movie was by no means Disney's best, but I think it's their best one recently! My husband and I actually quite enjoyed this movie, despite having misgivings about it. We haven't been thrilled with the direction that Disney has been taking their recent films, but I feel like this one has redeemed them somewhat. The story, characters, and music definitely didn't seem super original, and there were some cheesy and confusing parts. Other people mentioned the film's pacing issues, and I agree with most of them, as the story did feel a bit rushed. However, Wish managed to bring across some of the nostalgia of old Disney classics, while being sweet, charming, and emotional. I actually felt myself tearing up during the song "This Wish." The songs are catchy and I've found myself listening to them and singing them this week. The main character did remind me a lot of both Rapunzel and Moana, she was cute and charming, and it's obvious that Disney recycles some of their more popular character ideas. Overall, it feels like a nostalgic, bite sized piece of Disney history with a lot of elements of their best movies combined. It felt like a very sweet celebration of Disney's 100 years. Maybe not a top 10 or even 20, but definitely worth a watch!
