I welcome you at Morning Joe into my home every morning while I make and eat my breakfast and generally keep you on in the background as I begin my at-home workday as a real estate broker. I hear you rail against Facebook and other social media for putting profits over everything else when they allow false, irresponsible, and even dangerous content on their platforms. I hear you express outrage that Medicare is not allowed to negotiate the price of the drugs that the millions of seniors on Medicare take. But then you go to commercial and what do I see? I see Big Pharma running ads telling me that politicians are going to decide what drugs people can take. I see Big Pharma trying to convince me that some kid in Canada is going to die from Cystic Fibrosis because the national health plan there restricts access to medicines and therapies and that our government is going to “import” similar policies from Canada. And I think “How is this different from what Facebook is doing? Why doesn’t MSNBC refuse to run these misleading ads or at least label them as such as you would have Facebook and other social media do? Why don’t the champions of truth on Morning Joe say something about the wool Big Pharma continues to pull over people’s eyes with their scare tactics that are just a smoke screen for keeping the strangle hold they have over Medicare and our healthcare system in general (Wow--three metaphors in one sentence!)” Instead of having conversations about baseball during commercial breaks, I suggest you watch these commercials and then do something to undo the damage they are doing to the message you are promoting; that is, if you can’t get these ads off your air entirely. Greetings from a disenchanted but still faithful viewer.
