Although certainly dated, Highly Responsive to Prayers is a very unique take on the brick-breaker genre that I would love to see ZUN play around with more in future titles. Like most future installments, Highly Responsive to Prayers is a very difficult game. However, I didn't really find it to be "cheap", per say, as every death felt more like a result of a technical failure on my end than the game cheating, which made it much easier to come back to. The music is also extremely well done for what it was, although sometimes harsh on the ears. While it is not my favourite of ZUN's PC-98 games, I appreciate the amount of care that went into it, and find it to be an overall enjoyable game. However, for those looking for a good starting point in the series, this is not it. I would recommend starting with Touhou 6-8, but if you want to start in the retro era, LLS and MS are much better introduction points to the series.
