Having read more than a few books about the historical timeline I feel I can comment on this film. It ambitiously tries to explain a very complicated year after the Pearl Harbor attack which was the 1940's version of 9-11 terrorists attack. The film captures the devastation of the sneak attack, the vital importance of navel intelligence, the utter devastation we inflicted on the Imperial Japanese Navy, and the resolve of America and its intrepid navel aviators and sailors. Ignore the abundance of CG and appreciate the fact that Hollywood works to salute the work of a great nation sacrificing its young men to overcome an Empire that was busy killing 100's of thousands of Chinese just for the hell of it.
