This novel is not just a found footage mystery. It has many more layers to draw the reader in. It makes a statement as to just how far a reporter is willing to go for a story. It illustrates how easy the line can be blurred when the reporter becomes the story.
The case of the Alperton Angels is the story of a cult whose events took place 18 years earlier and resulted in three suicides, the murder of an outsider and the conviction of his killer. They were also convinced that a baby born to two of the cult members was actually the Antichrist. Two rival reporters decide to write true crime books about the events surrounding the cult.
The clever found footage structure gives the reader a sense of urgency. The reader is sifting through the evidence alongside protagonist Amanda Bailey.
I highly recommend this novel. Not only will the reader be entertained but also given some issues to consider.
