I would give black widow for 4.5 stars so I just rounded it up. It was a truly amazing film, but I was disappointed in some areas. I was so excited marvel released they were finally going to have a black widow solo film, and I had certain expectations for the film. I had expected that we were going to learn more about what Natasha went through during her training in the red room, and how she was able to escape, and adjust to her new life outside of the red room.
I was honestly very disappointed in the Taskmaker plot. There was so much room to really work with it more, into really emphasize and show what the girls went through during their time in the red room. How they were controlled how that caused in psychological damage and trauma. And who the task maker turned out to be it was pretty predictable.
But there are also many things that I loved. Natasha and Yelena’s relationship growth was amazing to see on the screen. And Yelena had to be my favorite character, and I’m very excited to see how she will adapt to the MCU. David Harbour played Alexie and was phenomenal, he managed to turn serious scenes into lighthearted and funny ones.
I just feel like there’s so much more that needs to be explored about black widow, and that her character was killed off too fast. That’s why I was so excited about this movie, I thought that I would finally get to understand why not who is who she was, and what made her like that.
Overall black widow was an exceptional film, and Hass to be one of my favorite standalones in the MCU. Go to many places of the movie could’ve improved, it was still an amazing movie, and it was very enjoyable to watch in theaters.
