John Wick 1 expertly staged a gruesome vengeance story around the somber mourning and woeful will to survive of a retired assassin. John Wick 3, however, continues a trend started in the sequel of inefficient, needless, and over the top violence centered around an obscure and virtueless plot. Like a roller coaster thrashing through the dark, it was more unpleasant than thrilling.
