Nonsensical, rubbish audio, murky visuals, diabolical script, sets so wobbly they look like they're straight from the original star trek series, incredibly dull, so slow that it would be outpaced by an octogenarian with a zimmer frame and a "monster/creature" that wouldn't look frightening in an episode of Trumpton. How anyone can rate this highly is beyond me! Absolute pants!!!!

This is probably the best Western ever made, it changed the whole way the genre was viewed. Even over half a century after it's first release it looks stunning. I think much of its brilliance is down to Eli Wallach. He has more dialogue than any other character in the film, and is its hub around which the plot and all other characters revolve. Not one second of its 3 hour run time is wasted. I've seen it about twenty times and could happily watch it again tomorrow

I think this is probably the second best Western ever made ~ only just behind The Good the Bad and the Ugly. It is the antithesis of the 1969 version of Portis' book. It is quite dark and unnerving. Beautifully acted in stunning locations with a brilliant script. Can't really fault it.

One of the greatest films I've ever seen. It's so beautifully filmed, so brilliantly acted, so wonderfully directed. The locations are brilliant. The casting can't be faulted. The script is so good. My favourite. What more can I say?
