Great debut book by Landes! Was transported into a world and culture I’ve never experienced thru the eyes of Meiselman going thru trials and tribulations universal to anyone. Interspersed with comedic relief between serious moment of reflection and introspection, Meiselman is a reflection of the inner bull we keep caged inside us all with manners, protocol, and insecurity. Everyone either is or knows a Meiselman and Landes creates the ensemble of characters surrounding him reflect the various attitudes towards the Meiselman in our lives while keeping a firm sense of place and atmosphere.
