I'll start this review/analysis saying that you don't need to play or even like Cyberpunk 2077 to enjoy this anime. You're definitely going to have fun with the crazy action and get emotional with the well written drama of the anime series. Let's go!
Character: 10/10
The Characters are very likeable, if you have empathy in your heart, you're gonna feel bad for the David, the main character. He is struggling to survive in a dystopian mega city obsessed for cybernetic upgrades and crime. He is passing through a very difficult time in his life and this city does not give second chances, if you don't act, the city will crush you and you will die like a like if not even existed. This city makes all the characters exhale nihilism, and the anime made a very good job on this, you can feel that the characters have nothing loose and because that, they do what they do. The characters are complex, with strengths and flaws.
Art and Animation: 10/10
I don't need to explain to much into this, Studio Trigger puts their souls and hearts into anything they create. The visuals are colorful and the action is a hot adrenaline injection.
Story: 9/10
Definitely, a very good story. It's take us in a fast and insane journey full of emotion, romance, action, well written relationships and character development. The arcs are interesting, the cliffhangers make us hyped for next episode and the plot twists are surprising. It's not 10/10 because there are moments that they didn't develop the characters relationships enough. The reason for that, it's the number of episodes, the anime is very short, we have only 10 episodes to watch. I think if would be 12 episodes would fix this problem. Don't get me wrong, is a very good story, it's a 9/10 and 9/10 is very good.
Music: 9/10
The music is great! The composers deserve Emmys for this soundtrack. Its not 10/10 because sometimes I felt that they didn't use the best music for some moments. In the begging there is a moment that a sad song would fit better than a happy song, but definitely this is not something that will ruin your experience, in general the soundtrack is perfect.
Total: 9.5/10
Cyberpunk is sub genre of science fiction and Cyberpunk Edgerunners has all the elements of this sub genre. You can definitely feel the High Tech - Low Life dilemma on this show. The anime is set in a very well written universe created by the genius Mike Pondsmith, one of the greatest writers of all time and this animation translate all of the energy from the books. I loved it.
