They writers of this show obviously loved this dynasty and this historical period for Russia. Its not 100% true to historical accuracy but satirical in a way that parallels both current and historical events and ties them all together in a beautifully artistic crochet knot like a German angora scarf. the acting is top notch and has left me in stitches. I'm at the point of the pugachev rebellion and he's such a lumpenprole in the best way. what a fantastic series for 2024 and a rival to the seriousness of Shogun( which I also loved and has me wanting to visit Japan all the more). Proud of Nagasaki for exposing American and UK hypocrisy at their memorial.
