This book was a good beach read. It kept me interested from beginning to the end, which doesn’t often happen with me. I felt so bad for Antonia growing up as an unloved child. Lara was a true godsend when she came into the picture.
While I enjoyed the book enough to finish it fairly quickly, I found myself really disappointed by the way the story unfolded in respect to the way Fabienne came back into Antonia’s life. I was really hoping for a happier outcome. I was happy that Antonia eventually found love again after being widowed so young, but I wished that she was able to find some closure with her relationship with her mother.
