im seeing quite a lot of reviews saying this book is boring, random and especially people saying its racist and sexist and that "it may have been ok the, but its not ok now". the people who say this CLEARLY dont understand depth and meaning, because this book is rich in both. it is not made to offend anyone. in the time this book was set in, it would have been heavily normalised to use derogatory terms to describe certain people. im not AT ALL saying that this behaviour is acceptable now or in that time, but to say that this material is not appropriate in a school environment would be almost ridiculous considering this book was written to share the real life experiences of ranch workers in the 1930's. this book was made to give insight into how the workers would have been treated and to censor or even ban this book (again) would be censoring a very important and misunderstood part of american history. please give this a good read, for this is a book that lives with you forever, like any good piece of literature does. it tests your morals, and changes you... happy reading.
