I don’t review games nor am I a die hard gamer. I only recently got an Xbox one and played Dying Light and was in love with it. When the second one came out I read reviews and watched gameplay online before purchasing the game. Everything I read and saw gave this game the appearance it’s worth having. I’ll start this by saying that I can’t say anything negative about this game without saying how great the story, character development, graphics, and overall game is. The reason I gave this game 2 stars has its reasons though. I started playing this game after fully diving into the first dying light and loved the game so I was very eager to see the improvements they made and how the story continued. The first problem I had is the character has gotten stuck in certain positions while running, jumping or falling at least 5 times within the first 2 hours of gameplay resulting in me having to restart the game. In the first dying light I didn’t get stuck once. The map was so well developed there just weren’t little spots to get locked into like there is in this one. Secondly, the graphics are great but it now has a much more cartoon vibe than the original. The one thing I loved about the original Dying Light is how real it felt and how visually pleasing it was to cut a zombies head off. That doesn’t exist in this game. The zombies are much less realistic and I HATE how it’s lost it’s grit. Thirdly, the flame glitches like crazy. I’ll lose sound entirely at times, it’s frozen at times which no other game has on my console, and just generally struggles to play at times. I know there’s patches and DLC that came out to correct this but honestly, I paid $45 for this game. Make sure it’s finished and thoroughly tested before releasing it if problems like this are an issue.
Overall, I’m not disappointed in the game. It’s fun and all but it’s not the Dying Light I was hoping it would be.
