'Maybe I should've read the book first?' is what I thought to myself after watching this movie and reading the reviews. The movie does an awful job of setting up this universe for those of us who haven't read the book. Some of yall are saying that this movie does a great job at encapsulating the book. I can imagine the book did not feature so many drowsy, unfinished conversations. Anytime a seemingly plot thickening narrative entered the story, I was uninterested. All of the other characters were exceedingly more interesting and brave than Paul. Any dramatic shift appears dull and the lack of dialogue does not help with the rhythm. Very noisy. I felt like this would have been better suited as a half hour sundance short film. zendaya deserved better -- would've loved to see her as the main character instead.
