Predictable and formulaic, with way too much nudity. Yes the cast is attractive and charming but it doesn’t save it. Over and out.

It is a "traditional biopic" I guess, but so what? Film critics may be too jaded to enjoy a quietly innocent, deeply moving work like this. Beautiful soundtrack, acting, costumes and sets that serve as a frame for the story even larger then Tolkien's younger life: that of the loss of an entire generation of bright, flaming artistic young spirits lost to war. Plenty of imagery & symbolism, but not too heavy-handedly done.
