Just like many, I too am a Beetlejuice fan and was excited for this movie. I gasped when I saw the original trailer months ago, during the previews for another movie. I am SO disappointed. There were so many stories thrown into one. I expected so much more!! The “villain” (Beetlejuice’s ex) got barely any screen time and served no purpose to the storyline or plot. Astrid’s character was extremely cliche, which somewhat works with Lydia’s character, but still very cliche and overused. Your average “I hate my life, my mom’s a freak, science geek”. The Jeremy boy was thrown in and thrown out. Not mentioned again after. And the end? A couple of dreams and then roll to credits? The movie was way too chaotic, it was all over the place! I’m very happy that this movie was able to give closure to some Beetlejuice fans, and that this sequel worked for them. I left the theater wanting more, and surprised that I was able to make it to the end of the movie. Sadly, Beetlejuice is of those movies that in fact did NOT, need a sequel.
